Email from Sue Kerton

Sue has sent an email from the US with a photo of a quilt a friend of hers is stitching. She says in her email: “I thought you might enjoy seeing the quilt one of my friends is making for her husband. It is so North West American where there is much huntin, shootin and fishin! Very different from our quilting. Extremely hot here now so eating too much ice cream. Looking forward to a … Continue reading Email from Sue Kerton

Dates for the diary

On Thursday August 10th we are planning to have a longer session than usual, so anyone who want to get involved with the butterfly quilt [which we are making to raise money for butterfly conservation] can make a start on a butterfly block. Avril and Sue have got a plan for how to do the butterflies and even have the fabric sorted [I think]. You will need a hand sewing kit [unless your machine does … Continue reading Dates for the diary

All the latest

I have finally managed to put a new ‘gallery’ on the photo gallery page showing photos from the show earlier this month. It was quite a challenge technically, as I do it so rarely I forget in between whiles how to do it.  I think we can be very proud of all the lovely quilts. And I know the refuge and furniture bank [who furnish the refugees’ homes] are pleased as punch with the ones we donated to … Continue reading All the latest

The idea is to make and sell teas and coffees, and slices of cake, and whole cakes, plus various gifts … Continue reading Coffee Morning Dec 3rd

Group events, shopping opportunities and culture… Yesterday (a monthly Wednesday) we worked on the quilt that Sue Kerton and others are making for an acquaintance of hers, to raise money for the refuge. The quilt top is coming on apace. Also yesterday I handed over some quilts and cushions we had made to the Stroud Furniture Project to make the homes of our Syrian refugees more comfortable. The next Wednesday is on February 10th (11am to … Continue reading Latest News, January 2016

Plans for the New Year

We have got three Wednesdays fixed for working on various projects, one in each month: January, February and March. On the first of these we shall be working on a lovely quilt using up scraps of Liberty lawn which a woman of Sue’s acquaintance had left over from making her children’s clothes many moons ago. On the second we shall be working to make soft furnishings etc to enhance the homes of Syrian refugees. The third date … Continue reading Plans for the New Year

Latest plans

In November, Sue Collins is running a one-off crochet workshop for Transition Stroud. See the details on the Upcoming Events page, and please pass them on to anyone who might be interested. In case anyone is interested, I [Fran] am running two workshops on making marmalade, in January, as part of the same scheme. Leaflets for both are available in the village hall. I don’t have a picture of oranges for marmalade so here is a … Continue reading Latest plans
