Today , those of us who were at sewing (which was most of us) discussed next year’s quilt show and made various decisions:
- we will have just one show, combining the Refuge quilts and our own ones.
- this will be on the previously agreed dates, May 23rd and 24th – the Saturday and Sunday of the second bank holiday weekend . This is the same two days as the Nailsworth Five Valleys Quilt Show, so we can share publicity and attract more people from a distance – two shows is more worth travelling to than one.
- we will have part of the exhibition in the church next door to the village hall; that allows us to effectively have two shows in one – a show of the Refuge quilts (and the opportunity to publicise the refuge and its work) and another show of the quilts we’ve made for ourselves and friends and relatives.
In many ways it is a pity not to use St Laurence, because it is a wonderful space. But the group wanted the show to stay in Chalford. And using the church as well as the hall will be brilliant. We’ll have space!
There are also plans afoot for a Chalford Challenge, making embroideries or appliqued pieces on the theme of Gloucestershire Wildlife, which will be kept secret, to be revealed at the show. When we have confirmed this we’ll publish the rules on this website.
