Refuge Quilts Day March 12th

We had a busy day yesterday, with lots of people and lots of activity. We have now completed about 10 quilts. I’ll put photos of these on the gallery page. http://chalfordstitchers.co.uk/photo-gallery/

We hope to hand over these quilts [and one blanket]  to a representative from the Refuge at our next meeting.

We have been making group quilts based on a hand-pieced 9-square block, with variations. Some of us have also been beavering away at home on machine-stitched quilts using fabric donated from various sources.

The plan now is to continue with hand-piecing , using a zigzag design of Kaffe Fasset’s. Or make ‘picture wall’ quilts for children, showing animals, boats, or whatever pictures we have in fabric form. These quilts are probably made most easily by machine.

And of course anyone is welcome to break away and come up with their own plan for quilts, using hand- or machine-stitching, and using our stash of fabrics or their own. We have no hard-and-fast rules. All ideas are welcome.
